Frequently Asked Questions

How 919 Used Cars works for buyers and dealers in the Triangle

For Buyers

Is 919 Used Cars free?

Yes. Browsing, searching, and viewing vehicle details costs you nothing. Dealers pay a flat listing fee. You never pay us anything.

How do I actually buy a car through this site?

919 Used Cars connects you with dealerships in the 919 area code. You find a vehicle here, click through to see full details and the dealer's contact information, then call or visit the dealer directly. The sale happens at the dealership - we don't handle payments, paperwork, or financing.

How do I know these dealers are legitimate?

Every dealer on the site is a licensed North Carolina dealership. We verify dealer licenses before activation. That said, do your own due diligence before buying any used car:

  • Pull a vehicle history report (Carfax or AutoCheck) - if the dealer won't provide one, that's a red flag
  • Have your own mechanic inspect the vehicle before you commit
  • Test drive it on roads you actually use - if you commute I-40 to RTP, get it on the highway
  • Ask about the warranty in writing, not just verbally
  • North Carolina requires an annual safety inspection ($30) - ask to see a current one

How current is the inventory?

We pull inventory feeds from dealers every hour. When a dealer adds a new vehicle or marks one as sold, it shows up on our end within the next update cycle. The Hot 100 page shows the most recently added listings across the 919.

Do you offer financing?

We don't. Financing is between you and the dealer, or you and your bank. Many dealers on the site work with lenders who handle all credit situations. If you want the strongest negotiating position, get pre-approved through your bank or credit union before you shop. A pre-approval letter tells the dealer you're a serious buyer and gives you a rate to compare against their financing offer.

Why do I see cars from Raleigh, Durham, Cary, and other cities mixed together?

The 919 area code covers the entire Triangle - Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill, Apex, Wake Forest, and surrounding towns. The main inventory pages show vehicles from all of them because most Triangle buyers are willing to drive 20-30 minutes for the right car. If you want to shop one city at a time, use the city pages to filter by location.

What if I have a problem after I buy?

Contact the dealer you purchased from. Your purchase agreement, warranty terms, and any return policy are between you and the dealership. We don't broker the sale and can't resolve disputes after the fact. This is why we recommend reading every line of the paperwork before you sign and asking about the dealer's return policy upfront.

For Dealers

How does listing work?

One flat-rate subscription puts your entire inventory on 919 Used Cars and our other NC sites. No per-lead fees, no per-click charges, no commission on sales. Your inventory syncs automatically through your existing feed. See current plans and pricing on the signup page.

How does my inventory get on the site?

We integrate with the inventory feed you already have. If you use HomeNet, vAuto, Dealer.com, DealerCenter, Frazer, CarsForSale.com, or most other dealer management systems, we can pull your feed automatically. Give us the feed URL during signup and your inventory goes live within 24-48 hours. Updates sync every hour after that.

What's included in the subscription?

Unlimited vehicle listings. Unlimited leads. Your inventory appears on multiple NC-focused sites that reach buyers across the 919 area code and statewide. No contracts - cancel any time. Full details on the signup page.

About the Platform

What sites does my inventory appear on?

One subscription puts your vehicles on three sites:

  • 919 Used Cars - your local 919 area code audience in the Triangle
  • UsedNC.com - statewide exposure across North Carolina
  • CarDealersNC.com - your own dealer profile page with inventory and reviews

All three are built to surface local dealer inventory that gets buried on national platforms.

How is this different from AutoTrader or CarGurus?

National platforms charge dealers thousands per month and prioritize large franchise stores that can afford premium placement. Independent dealers in the 919 get pushed to the bottom. We built this site for the Triangle's independent dealers - flat-rate pricing, no pay-to-play rankings, and an audience that's specifically looking for local inventory they can't find on the big sites.

Do you sell my data or show ads?

No. We don't sell user data to third parties or display advertising. The site makes money from dealer listing fees. That's it. No tracking pixels resold to lead aggregators, no pop-ups, no banner ads competing with the inventory you came to browse.
